In April 2013 I ran the London Marathon for the MS Society and with generous donations from my friends, family and co-workers we managed to raise an amazing amount. It was the single most rewarding experience of my life, having felt powerless growing up and watching the heartbreaking effects of MS on my mum.

No matter how bad my mum’s situation was, I always felt lucky that we were able to live in a country where there was such good support available from the government. However, there are millions of disabled people around the world who are suffering and not able to get the same kind of support from their welfare systems. This is why for my next marathon, I have chosen to raise money for the Walkabout Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on funding research to find a cure for paralysis and donating wheelchairs to people in need around the developing world.

On November 2nd I will be running the New York City marathon. I have fully funded this myself so 100% of any donations will go directly towards the Walkabout Foundation’s projects. For every £200 we raise, a rugged-terrain wheelchair will be donated to someone who needs the life-changing independence it can offer.
