Instead of asking for presents for my birthday this year, I am asking my friends and family to give the gift of mobility to someone less fortunate in Guinea. A life-changing wheelchair costs just $300 – and parts start from as little as $21.

Between April 27th and 30th, we organised a tennis tournament in Conakry to help us with our goal of raising $60,000 for the distribution of an entire container of wheelchairs in Guinea. Thanks to the kind sponsors of the event, UMS, SMB, TMH and Hotel Riviera Royal, it was a great success, with 24 children and 20 adults taking part.

A Christmas gathering with friends to raise money for Walkabout!

Having just hit the big 4-0 I’ve decided I need a physical challenge. While the needs of a young family prevent me from climbing Everest or K-2, I figure I can fit in a bit of marathon training.
So here I am. As added motivation I’m excited to be running for Walkabout. I don’t know what’s harder: running 26.2 miles or raising £3000. But every little helps and any donation is a £/$/€ well spent!
