Malawi
Malawi is one of the world’s most impoverished countries, ranking at 170 of 188 countries on the Human Development Index for 2016.
Over half of the population lives in poverty, and life is even more difficult for those living with a disability: 35% of people with disabilities have never attended school, and lack of appropriate wheelchairs means that many are unable to participate in their communities or sometimes even leave their own home.
